About Marla

An internationally-acclaimed photographer, Marla McDonald is a visual storyteller who uses a variety of photographic styles to “capture moments of spirit” – the connection, the emotion, the essence of an instant. A graduate of the Summer Intensive program at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography, Marla has mastered various tools and techniques including traditional color and black & white prints, digital photography, Polaroid manipulation and alternative processes.

Marla has received awards from National Geographic, Photographer’s Forum and Women in Photography International. Her work has been commissioned by individuals and organizations and her photographs have been published in numerous publications including Texas Monthly, D Magazine and the Dallas Observer.

Marla credits her photographic eye to her grandfather, who won the Daily Record Scottish Amateur Photography Competition in 1935!
